An individual who laced candy with sleeping medication and gave them to children at a youth camp in the area has admitted sexual offenses against two children who were nine and ten years old.
Jon Ruben was detained after eight minors and a grown-up fell ill at Stathern Lodge in mid-summer.
The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a total of 17 charges when he stood at the judicial center on Friday.
Nevertheless, he disputed one of the sexual offences he was accused of, which was against a young boy.
Ruben was kept in jail before a further hearing on November 28th.
'Sweet game'
The prosecutor, prosecuting, outlined the defendant's actions to the judicial body.
She explained his victims were under-privileged children who were participating in a summer program which he managed.
The defendant engaged in a "sweet game" with the minors, Mrs Prior explained, in which he would access the sleeping quarters when they were getting ready for bed and request they to ingest treats "as fast as possible".
She stated to the judge the man had conducted this practice with the children "repeatedly", and youngsters had previously fallen ill the subsequent day.
She explained the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this for many years as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his family member had concerns in July 2025.
The legal representative stated further: "This year his stepson had concerns about the activities, with valid cause.
"They decided to examine in the individual's items."
The prosecutor stated materials including infant oil, Vaseline and syringes were found, and his stepson alerted the authorities about his worries.
She stated the man went on to engage in the "candy game" with six children that night - July 26th - and they were all sick the next day.
"Authorities" had not arrived by that time," she added.
The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, earlier informed that it was reviewing Leicestershire Police's handling of the incident.
Mrs Prior said the youngsters were struggling to walk due to their condition, so the stepson contacted the authorities once more.
She said Ruben then played the "candy game" in a room of five children.
